Sport’s Day Volunteers are needed on June 21

At Kenneth D Taylor School, we will recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day by celebrating and playing several Indigenous games and other games during our Sports Day event. Sports Day will happen on Friday, June 21. The events will run for 1 hour 15 minutes.

To make this special day possible, we are looking for volunteers to help run the Sports Day stations. All volunteers must already have an existing police clearance. If you want to volunteer, please click this link through Sign up Genius.  Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up for 1 slot only. Thank you!

Accessing Online Report Cards through CBE

Families will be able to view online student report cards for kindergarten to Grade 12 from June 26 – July 26, 2024. Report cards for the 2023-24 school year may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed.

Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App.

Need Help?

Check out our videos for more information on how to log in and navigate the portal when you have more than one child attending CBE schools.

Attendance

For absences or lates, please ensure that you phone the absence line at 403-817-3504, ext. 1.  This is our preferred method of notifying us as we cannot check emails at all times.

For extended absences more than 5 days, please also fill out this form.

With the nicer weather, students are walking or riding their bikes to school.  If your child takes the bus, we would ask that you let the office know so that we are not holding up the bus for attendance.

Also, if your child is in daycare or afterschool care, please let them know if your child is absent or has other plans as they also do attendance for their programs. Children Come First is our afterschool care and their phone number is (587) 228-4797.  PLEASE NOTE:  We would appreciate if you would contact them directly so that daycare is not looking for your child afterschool.

Register Now for Yellow School Bus Service

Bus eligible families only are now able to register for school bus service for the 2024-25 school year. Service levels and proposed fees will remain the same as the current school year.

Please note that registration for Noon Supervision will not open until mid-August.

Apply Today

  • Registration is available using only your MyCBE account.  Forms are not available.  Payment is not required at this time.
  • Families must register by Sunday, June 16 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
  • We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.
  • Note: Conditional ridership forms will be available after registration closes.

Fees

If you have outstanding school fees, you may do the following:

·  Preferred method:  Pay Online with MyCBE - to create a new account, go to cbe.ab.ca/mycbe

  • Pay at the school office using your debit or credit card.  If you need to make a payment at your school, please call ahead to make arrangements.  Please do NOT send cash as it can get lost in the shuffle.
  • If you cannot afford the fees, you may be eligible to have them waived.  Please note that Fieldtrip Fees are not waiver eligible. Waivers for 2022-2023 fees are due by no later than end of June, 2024.

Lost and Found

Be sure to check the lost and found tables at the entry because soon everything will be given away to the Goodwill Store.

Drop off and Pick up of Students

Just a reminder that doors are open for all students no earlier than 7:45 AM and instructional/classroom time starts at 8:00 AM.  Efforts made to have students at school before 8:00 AM with enough time to get in their classroom for an 8:00 AM start time are greatly appreciated.

For afterschool pickups, students must be picked up on time each day at dismissal at 2:30 PM and 12:00 PM on Fridays.  We understand that occasionally other arrangements need to be made.  We would ask that all arrangements are called in to the office by 2:00 PM on Monday - Thursday and 11:00 AM on Fridays.  Please understand that it is very difficult for the office staff to have this all arranged when we only receive phone calls 5 or 10 minutes before the bell. Just a friendly reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot for drop offs and pick ups of students as this is very unsafe.

Volunteering at Kenneth Taylor School

We welcome volunteers in the classroom, on field trips and with certain tasks at school or at home. Please note we will not be processing any applications for the month of June and September.

Moving?

We are already in the process of planning for September 2024.  If you are planning on moving, please let the office know.  Students who are currently attending Kenneth D Taylor School may submit a

Transfer Request: requesting a transfer to the new designated school, due to an address change.

Dates to Remember

June 27 – Half Last Day with Students - ALL STUDENTS have dismissal at 12:00 PM (PM Kindergarten students attend)

June 28 – Organizational Day and Appeals - NO SCHOOL FOR ALL STUDENTS

Have a wonderful weekend!
