Grade 4 Student Craft Market and Bake Sale Fundraiser
To help raise money to support Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids Charity, the Grade 4’s have organized a Craft Market and Bake Sale.
The sale will be happening on Friday, June 14, 8:30 am - 11:00 am and All KDT Students (only) are invited to participate.
Baked goods will be available for $2.00 each and there will be a variety of crafts made by the Grade 4 students that cost $1.00 or $2.00. Baked goods will be individually wrapped with ingredient lists displayed. Students can bring $2-5 dollars in cash only and come shopping for some fun craft items or a baked treat!
As the leaders of Kenneth D. Taylor School, our Grade 4 students have been learning about the importance of contributing to the greater communities that they are part of. Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids Charity was chosen because it fits in well with our Kenneth D. Taylor Character Values of heart, empathy, acceptance, responsibility and truthfulness. This charity provides lunches to more than 7,000 students each day in over 260 schools across Calgary. Our grade 4 students were really excited that they could help other kids, just like themselves, who may not have a lunch to eat at school every day. You can find out more about the charity and the fantastic work they do by visiting their website: https://bb4ck.org/

Fees
If you have outstanding school fees, you may do the following:
Preferred method: Pay Online with your MyCBE Parent Account - to create a new account, go to cbe.ab.ca/mycbe
Pay at the school office by debit, credit card or cash. If you need to make a payment at school, please call ahead to make arrangements. Please do not send cash with your child as it can get lost in the shuffle.
If you cannot afford the fees, you may be eligible to have them waived, however, fieldtrip fees are not waiver eligible and will be sent to collections if not paid.
Waivers for 2023-2024 fees are due by no later than end of June, 2024 and applications must be made by using your MyCBE Parent Account.

Sport’s Day Volunteers are needed on June 21
At Kenneth D Taylor School, we will recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day by celebrating and playing several Indigenous games and other games during our Sports Day event. Sports Day will happen on Friday, June 21. The events will run for 1 hour 15 minutes.
To make this special day possible, we are looking for volunteers to help run the Sports Day stations. All volunteers must already have an existing police clearance. If you want to volunteer, please click this link through Sign up Genius. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up for 1 slot only. Thank you! www.signupgenius.com
Accessing Online Report Cards through CBE
Families will be able to view online student report cards for kindergarten to Grade 12 from June 26 – July 26, 2024 ONLY. Please make arrangements to view or download 2023-23 Report cards as they will not be available after July 26th and you will need to contact the school to request a copy. Please note that we will not be able to accommodate these requests until October, 2024.
Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App.
Need Help?
Check out these videos for more information on how to log in and navigate the portal when you have more than one child attending CBE schools - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yN7aNET71a4

Attendance
For absences or lates, please ensure that you phone the absence line at 403-817-3504, ext. 1 which is open 24 hrs per day. This is our preferred method of notifying us as we cannot check emails at all times.
For extended absences more than 5 days, please fill out this form – see link: https://www.cbe.ab.ca/FormsManuals/Extended-Absence-Form.pdf#search=Extended%20Absence%20form
With the spring weather finally, students are walking or riding their bikes to school. If your child takes the bus, we would ask that you let the office know so that we are not holding up the bus for attendance.
Also, if your child is in daycare or afterschool care, please let them know if your child is absent or has other plans as they also do attendance for their programs. Children Come First is our afterschool care and their phone number is 587-28-4797. PLEASE NOTE: We would appreciate if you would contact them directly so that daycare is not looking for your child afterschool.
Be Prepared
Just a friendly reminder to please remember to send a re-usable fork and/or spoon with your child if they are required for their snack or lunch. We have a very limited supply and we are running out. Please help your child remember all the ways we can do things that are better for the environment which includes not throwing out a plastic spoon in the garbage each day.
Drop off and Pick up of Students
Just a reminder that doors are open for all students no earlier than 7:45 am and instructional/classroom time starts at 8:00 am. Efforts made to have students at school before 8:00am with enough time to get in their classroom for an 8:00 am start time are greatly appreciated.
For afterschool pickups, students must be picked up on time each day at dismissal at 2:30 pm. We understand that occasionally other arrangements need to be made. We would ask that all arrangements are called in to the office by 2:00 pm. Please understand that it is very difficult for the office staff to have this all arranged when we only receive phone calls 5 or 10 minutes before the bell.
Just a friendly reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot for drop offs and pick ups of students as this is very unsafe. See attachment from Calgary Parking Authority. Calgary Parking Authority
Volunteering at Kenneth Taylor School
We welcome volunteers in the classroom, on field trips and with certain tasks at school or at home. Please note we will not be processing any applications for the month of June & September.
Moving?
We are already in the process of planning for September 2024. If you are planning on moving, please let the office know. Students who are currently attending Kenneth D Taylor School may submit a Transfer Request requesting a transfer to the new designated school, due to an address change.
