Administration Message

As November settles in, we are reminded of the beauty of changing seasons and the importance of embracing the cooler weather. Please remember to dress warmly for school! Layering is key—hats, gloves, and winter jackets can make a big difference on chilly mornings. Encourage your children to wear appropriate footwear as well, especially on snowy days.

This month, we also take time to observe Remembrance Day on Monday, November 11. It’s a moment for us to reflect on the sacrifices made by many for our freedoms. We will be holding a special assembly to honor those who have served on Thursday, November 7, 10:30 am SHARP. I encourage families to discuss the significance of this day with their children and participate in any local commemorative activities. Teachers will be sending out more information in their weekly updates.

We would also like to take this opportunity to show our thanks to the School Council who has made valuable contributions to our common goal of student success. Thank you to all families that came out to the Movie Night. It was a great success. Thank you School Council for building a strong sense of community!

Let’s come together as a school community to support one another and appreciate the changing season. Thank you for your continued involvement and support.

How to Pay School Fees

If you have outstanding school fees, you may do the following:

Parent/Guardians will need to use the email on file at their child’s school, as well as their child’s CBE Student ID number and birth date.

The MyCBE sign-in page contains instructions on requesting an access key for students. The access key(s) will be sent by email. Families can use it to create an account, and add their children to their account.

  • If you need to make a payment at your school, please call ahead to make arrangements.  You can pay by using a debit/credit card.  Please do not send cash as it may get lost in the shuffle and the fee will still be outstanding with the CBE.
  • Apply for a waiver - Please refer to this link for more information and if you have accepted documents  https://www.cbe.ab.ca/registration/fees-and-waivers/Pages/Waivers.aspx

Keeping Our Students and Families Safe

The front of the school becomes extremely congested before and after school and visibility is often difficult.  We understand that this is not convenient at times, but please be patient and considerate and most of all, extremely careful of ALL our students.

Kindly please READ and REMEMBER the following:

  • The staff parking lot is reserved ONLY for Kenneth Taylor Staff & CBE personnel.  Also, PLEASE no dropping off or picking up of students as this is unsafe.
  • When parking on the street, please DO NOT block alleys, driveways and crosswalks and DO NOT move garbage bins.  We need to be courteous to our neighbors at ALL TIMES.  Verbal abuse will not be tolerated and will be reported to the police.
  • Watch for signs indicating "No Stopping" and "No Parking" zones, especially across the street from the school where we have school buses.
  • Avoid double parking and do not park on corners of curbs as people cannot cross safely.
  • Leave 5 meters between your car and any crosswalk markings. This will ensure children are visible when they enter the crosswalk.
  • Teach your children to cross at the crosswalk and not jaywalk by setting an example of doing this yourself.
  • School bus zones must be kept clear so children can step off the bus and onto a curb instead of exiting into a busy street.
  • If you are dropping off or picking up your children, you do not necessarily need to park in front or beside the school as there is ample parking with access to the school only steps away (you may need to walk a block or two).
  • When you are walking back to your vehicle or home after school please do not cut through private property (i.e. – walking on lawns, etc). And do not walk through the staff parking lot but use the sidewalks whenever possible.
  • At the end of day pick up, please do NOT stop in the middle of the road and have your children quickly jump in the vehicle (this blocks the flow of traffic and is unsafe).
  • Should you see traffic infractions in our school zone, please call the police at 403-266-1234 to report it or log on to https://www.calgary.ca/cps/traffic/traffic-service-requests.html to complete a Traffic Service Request.  We are not able to complete traffic service requests on your behalf.
  • Please see Map below for drop off.  We strongly encourage parents to follow the drop zone route indicated on the map below.  This allows parents to drop off on the sidewalk adjacent to the school and avoids the need to have students cross the road.  This is a safer alternative to parking across the street from the school and having student walk onto the roadway.
  • Please park and drive responsibly and help make streets safe for our children by following this map:

Have an amazing weekend Everyone!

Sincerely,

Michelle Borchert
