Administration Message
“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.” Albert Einstein
As we enter the month of May, it's hard to believe how quickly the school year is flying by! This is a time of reflection, celebration, and preparation as we begin planning for next year at Kenneth D. Taylor
We have several exciting events planned this month that highlight the wonderful learning and community spirit in our school. Our Grade 1 and EES Sharing Assembly will give students a chance to showcase their growth and talents—it's always a heartwarming event that reminds us why we do what we do. We’re also looking forward to welcoming new families during our Kindergarten Orientation, where future families get their first taste of our school community.
Spring Photos are scheduled this month as well—please keep an eye out for more details so your child can be photo-ready! And finally, we are excited to host our Volunteer Tea, a small token of appreciation for all the incredible time and effort our parent volunteers have shared throughout the year. Your support truly makes a difference.
With the arrival of spring, many students will begin to ride their bikes and walk, to school. It takes a while to adjust to using “wheels” to ride to school, and gravel along the edges makes for slippery surfaces. Please be extra vigilant in watching for students and following all traffic and safety measures. Students who are bringing bikes to school are reminded to securely lock items to the appropriate rack in the playground and to wear an appropriate helmet.
Thank you for your continued partnership and involvement.

Attendance
For absences or lates, please ensure that you phone the absence line at 403-817-3504, ext. 1. This is our preferred method of notifying us as we cannot check emails at all times.
For extended absences more than 5 days, you will need to complete an extended absence form
Also, if your child is in daycare or afterschool care, please let them know if your child is absent or has other plans as they also do attendance for their programs.
Traffic Safety and Parking
Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.
Reminders from the City of Calgary
The City wants to remind and encourage anyone who is driving children to school to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly.
When parking, please, never park in front of a driveway – it’s against the law! (The City of Calgary By-law demands that a 1.5m clearance must be observed on either side of a driveway).
Staff Parking Lot is for Staff ONLY
When visiting the school, kindly please do not park in parking lot! These spots are all assigned staff parking. Occasionally, you may see a vacant spot; however, it is assigned to a CBE staff member. Please park on the street adjacent to the school, and use the crosswalk. Thank you for your cooperation.
