Administration Message
Winter is here and February has been known to be a very cold month. We are strongly encouraging our students on a daily basis to wear their coats, hats, mitts and boots. It is important that the students dress warmly, as we will be going outside as long as it does not get too cold. When the temperature is below -20 with the wind chill and students will be staying inside.
Report cards are now available for viewing through your MyCBE Account. We encourage you to take time to review the report card with your child and celebrate their strengths while also discussing areas for growth. We are committed to providing a positive and supportive learning environment where each student can thrive, and we look forward to continuing this journey together. Families can view, download or print online report cards for kindergarten to Grade 12 students on Monday, Jan. 27 until May 30, 2025 through MyCBE.
We have a busy and exciting few weeks coming up with many wonderful events planned for our students and families! To help you stay informed and up-to-date, we encourage you to keep an eye on your inbox for important information.
Be sure to check your email regularly, as well as the "Teacher Week at a Glance" updates from your child's teacher. These emails will provide you with details about upcoming events, schedules, and any other important announcements.
We look forward to seeing you at these events and appreciate your ongoing support in making them a success!
Sincerely,
Adam Topp, Principal

How is My Child Doing in School?
Report cards summarize and communicate student achievement at a point in time. In addition to the report card, schools communicate with parents/guardians about student progress on an ongoing basis in a variety of ways.

Attendance
For absences or lates, please ensure that you phone the absence line at 403-817-3504, ext. 1. This is our preferred method of notifying us as we cannot check emails at all times.
For extended absences more than 5 days, please also fill out this form – see link: Extended Absence Form
Also, if your child is in daycare or afterschool care, please let them know if your child is absent or has other plans as they also do attendance for their programs. Children Come First is our afterschool care and their phone number is 587-228-4797. PLEASE NOTE: We would appreciate if you would contact them directly so that daycare is not looking for your child after school.
Traffic Safety
Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.
Please see link for important maps - Parking & Drop-Off
Reminders from the City of Calgary
The City wants to remind and encourage anyone who is driving children to school to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly. Parents and guardians are reminded not park where it’s prohibited during drop off and pick up times, such as blocking crosswalks, laneways and private driveways.
Pick up and drop off times can get quite busy. Give yourself extra time to navigate safely around schools, whether you are walking, wheeling, or driving. For those who drive, help alleviate congestion by parking a block or two away and walking in, wherever possible.
Talk to your kids about safe travel practices like using crosswalks and looking all ways before crossing the street and not jaywalking across the roadways as a shortcut.
When parking, please, never park in front of a driveway – it’s against the law! (The City of Calgary By-law demands that a 1.5m clearance must be observed on either side of a driveway).
Learn more by visiting Calgary.ca/BeSafe.
Hug & Go Zone
Please drop your children off on the school side of Evanscove Circle anywhere in front of the school which is a “Hug & Go” zone from 7:15– 8:15. Parents, please DO NOT drop off or pick up your child(ren) in the parking lot. Extra cars in the parking lot result in a very dangerous situation for our students. Please always cross at the corner; and never be-tween busses (choose safety over convenience).
For your child’s safety and for your convenience – we have a dedicated ‘Hug & Go!’ area adjacent to the grass field on Evanscove Circle – sidewalk closest to the school only! This allows you to pull up, say a quick good-bye to your child, have them leave the passenger side of your vehicle and drive away (slowly). Please do not wait in this zone after your child exits your vehicle. Parking is never allowed on this side of the street from 7:15 – 8:15 Monday through Friday.
