Our EES students have been busy learning and growing each day! In literacy, we are building our reading skills through daily alphabet and literacy centers, exploring letters, sounds, and early reading strategies. We have explored topics such as winter animals, feelings and emotions, and food and grocery shopping. We are also becoming writers using Predictable Chart Writing, where students contribute ideas and build sentences together in a fun and structured way.
In numeracy, we are strengthening our understanding of numbers by working on patterning, counting, and quantity through hands-on activities. Fine motor practice is an important part of our learning, and we engage in activities like lacing, tracing, cutting, and using playdough to strengthen our hand muscles for writing and everyday tasks.
A key focus in our classroom is communication, and we practice using our AAC devices throughout the day to express our thoughts and needs. Every day, we have "talker time," where we focus on a core word to build our vocabulary and confidence in using our devices. We also explore scientific thinking by following visual recipes to create fun projects like slime! This hands-on learning helps us practice sequencing, following directions, and making observations.
We are so proud of the progress our students are making and look forward to another exciting month of learning!
